Today the world celebrates the late Nigerian Super Eagles midfielder, Samuel Okwaraji as Google honours the legend with a doogle on Google.com! Today 19 May is the former midfielder’s 55th posthumous birthday.
Samuel Okwaraji died at 25 at a World Cup qualification match against Angola at the National Stadium in Lagos on 12 August 1989. Before Okwaraji’s sudden death, he made 8 caps for Nigeria and scored the fastest goal in the history of African Cup of Nations.
Born in Orlu, Imo State Nigeria, Samuel Okwaraji held a Masters degree in International Law from the Pontifical Lateral University, Rome.
At Infusion Lawyers, we join Nigeria and the rest of the world to celebrate this legend. We are happy to mention that in observing the theme of the 2019 World IP Day on April 26, ‘Go for Gold: Intellectual Property and Sports’, we conceived an initiative, ‘Legacy of Legends’. Legacy of Legends recognizes Nigerian sports legends. With the initiative, we are not only seeking to recognize Nigerian sports legends but also create value particularly for selected legends’ beneficiaries by leveraging on the legacy these legends left behind or live for.
